Brethren Service Center 2011

Brethren Service Center
New Windsor, MD

Our Easter Week mission trip took a team of volunteers to the Brethren Service Center in New Windsor, Maryland. The Center has been helping people in need for over sixty-five years in areas of relief and development, disaster response, social justice, peace education, and hospitality.

During our three-day journey we spent one day in the Material Resources Center packaging school kits, hygiene kits, baby layettes, and health kits for distribution to areas of impoverishment and turmoil. A second day was spent at SERRV, a nonprofit organization with a mission to eradicate poverty wherever it resides by providing opportunity and support to artisans and farmers worldwide. We inspected and packaged several different fair trade crafts items for sales in the United States.

Of course the team enjoyed a great time of fellowship, some delicious meals, a lot of laughs, and stories which we can never tell lest we be thrown out of church! In all, it was a privilege to be “the hands of Christ” as we served our brothers and sisters in a spirit of godly love.
